Edinburgh Show Cancelled...
Author: RWSTitle: Edinburgh Show Cancelled
Date: 2005-11-01 20:47:39Uploaded by: webmaster
I have just had confirmation that unfortunately that the Edinburgh International Charity Show, scheduled for the weekend 12th - 13th November, has been cancelled. The full notification is given below.

Just to notify you and all your readers that we have now decided to cancel this years Edinburgh Charity Show.

We have patiently waited on the Scottish Executive making a decision on how they were going to implement their licensing policy regarding the risk assessments and apply accordingly. I have today received an e-mail from the Scottish Executive that this policy will not be in place as early as was first thought and it will be at least the end of the week before they can give me anymore information. Having also spoken to the DEFRA helpline and read the English application form it appears extremely unlikely that permission will be granted for such a license for Pigeons. Pigeons would appear to be classed as higher risk than many other birds such as budgies, finches etc.

Due to the foregoing we have decided that this years show should be cancelled with just over a week to go. This was only fair on all the venue management, stall holders, exhibitors, hoteliers and of course fanciers who required to make cancellations or alternative arrangements.

We can only apologise for any inconvenience that has been caused due to the circumstances outwith our control.

The Charity Auctions that were due to be held have also been cancelled and I am trying to make arrangements to have a "Phone in bid auction" to sell the pigeons that have already been donated. Details of this will follow when at hand.

Thank you for your support

David Gunn
