Author: Ian M BrownTitle: SNRPC Alencon 2005 Gold Medal Race
Date: 2005-07-02 10:26:53Uploaded by: webmaster
I now have times to hand and it would appear that we have quite a remarkable winner for the SNRPC’s first Gold medal channel race from France.

After winning 1st open young bird national 2004. Then on the 4th June 2005 winning 1st open in our Newbury inland national, the partnership of Robert Walker and Jim Wilson of St Abbs win 1st open and 3rd Open Alencon. This is an exceptional performance and has been achieved in what has turned out to be a very hard channel race. My congratulations to Bob and Jim, I know that Duncan Knox has been to see them and I will be talking to them soon.

Norman Renton of Foulden takes 2nd place and very little separates these two gallant birds congratulations to Norman who is no new comer to the winners enclosure. These three birds are 1st, 2nd and 3rd Section B and 1st 2nd and 3rd eastern area.

That well known fancier John Ellis of Dundee achieves 4th open 1st section C and 4th eastern area with a dark chequer pied that has been 4 times across the channel and always in the 1st 100 birds timed. This bird wins handsomely in the pools great performance from John and his birds from a stalwart of long distance flying and the SNRPC.

Gary Hall of Thornton Fife 5th open 2nd section C and 5th eastern area I now have Gary's phone number and will contact him for some information.

Mr&Mrs J Keir & Son are 7th open 3rd section C and 7th Eastern area in their open positions they have the only 2 yearlings on the result. Section A is won by R & M Seaton Annan and 12th open 1st Southern Area. Roy is the convenor of the south marking station and is well known in the pigeon world.

2nd section A and 38th open is Dennis Anderson of Howgill. Dennis was 1st in the section out of Newbury.

3rd Section A and 48th Open is Mr & Mrs C Little from Eastriggs. Billy Wortley has been to see these lads and I hope to hear from Bill soon.

John Macks 1st section D 20th open Alencon 2005 1st time across and Johns first national race 1st Section D and 20th open is to a fellow club member of mine in the Forth Bridges club John Mack Alloa. This is John's first year in national racing and is really pleased at his Blue hens performance in his first effort at the distance.

2nd Section D and 21st open is another club member Watt Ure, Grangemouth he is also pleased to make the result.

3rd section D and 22nd open is John McNeil of Broxburn. A result would not be a result with out John's name appearing on it. The Velocities had to taken to 3 decimal points to separate them Distance being the decider.

Section E was won by none other than Jim O'Hara from Shotts he was 24th open and 2nd Western Area I await information from Jim.

2nd in section E is Allan Ross from Kirkintilloch Allan is 32nd open and 3rd western area I have Allans phone number and will be in touch.

Ken Buchannan of Hamilton is 3rd and 4th section E, he is also 42nd and 43rd open, 4th and 5th in the area I have now spoken to Ken and have some information on his birds.

Ian Ross his 1st western area 1st section F and 17th open Alencon 2005 1st in the western Area 1st section F and 17th Open is Ian Ross of Glasgow Ian and I have had a chat and I have received information by email I will try and include a photo with this report a great result for Ian and the west section.

2nd section F is A&R Reid of Beith their bird is 94th open I have their phone number and will contact them soon.

3rd in section F is Stuart Mullan his bird is 125th open Stuart is a committee member of the SNRPC.

I would emphasise that this has been a very hard race and many good birds are still missing. Many Channel races were flown last weekend and many organisations who liberated earlier and from different race points had bad racing with very poor returns.

Holdovers North Easterly winds and distance most always make for hard racing. I will be trying to have a report of the race in both papers next week. Please I would be happy to receive your information by email, phone, letter; at any time.
